I’ve had some questions lately about how I prepare for a medical intuitive session.

Preparing Energy for a Medical Intuitive Session

Having energy for sessions is one of the reasons I’m so conscious about what I put into my body. Although my work is not very physical, channeling different energies requires extra stores of chi or vital life force. Using Chi in my work can become depleting to the body and impact emotional regulation. I have learned over the last twenty years how to prevent feeling unhelpfully impacted in this manner. We all want to feel good. And, I have made a commitment to myself to expand in abundance, success, and love every day, as I inspire those around me to do the same. (FYI – I adapted that wording from Gay Hendrick’s fabulous book, The Big Leap, which I love.)

I’ve thought of an easy metaphor to use to explain how I think of this is that to give and share my gifts. It is my job to keep my cup/vessel full and gently overflowing with chi and light. When I do this I am in the right state to share. That is how I orient myself as a medicine worker. It can take work to stay full. It has taken me twenty years of refining that process to remain in that state most of the time. One of the gifts of seeing in multi-dimension is often an increased level of sensitivity. You may have heard terms like HSP (highly sensitive person) or empath. These are in the same vein. For me, with an increased capacity to feel what my clients feel, there comes an increased responsibility to myself to stay in a healthy state of well being. I take it seriously because I love and care for myself and being depleted doesn’t serve me or my clients. In addition, doing my best quality work requires it and I care deeply about my clients and want to do the best job I can for them.

Energy Boosting Diet

Because of this, I start the day by eating a healthy breakfast with lots of live foods. I’m a big fan of grapefruit not only for the taste but because it keeps liver chi moving from a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) standpoint. I like to keep liver chi moving and grooving throughout the day. Grapefruit is also associated with the wood element which is the first element in the creative cycle of Taoism. It’s an element for my particular constitution. That element gives me a lot of fuel and helps give me a paradoxical flow backwards in the creative cycle. This flows to my water element aspect and into the metal element aspect which is the intuitive and sensitivity side of things. Everyone is different and this may not be how other peoples’ bodies react to the sour, wood-promoting flavor of grapefruit. The grapefruit isn’t just a fruit or source of energy for me, it creates a flow in my body and mind.

During and After the Session

I’m not big on routines. I’ve never subscribed to a morning or evening routine. However, I end every session with my clients the same way. By disconnecting from the person with whom I was working with and anyone involved in that session with them. This includes all of their spirit guides who may have been present during the session.

I’m very conscious about keeping the energy clear during sessions. I like to leave a window open in my office during the day so that the energy goes out and I try to spend time in nature in between to get my body moving and keep energy flowing throughout my body.

Clearing Energy from the Home and Body

Lastly, I play some tingshas (yoga chimes) to clear the energy of myself and my office so that everything is clean and clear for the next person or whatever else I may need to do that day. It’s important to cleanse after each session. This way there’s no remaining energy in my space affecting my day to day. It also allows me to give my clients my undivided attention during each session. This is especially important towards the end of the day. It’s important that I’m not carrying other people’s energy into my personal life. I encourage you to try this practice as well by clearing energies in between activities. Whether you had a stressful day at work or a difficult conversation with a friend; my Energy Clearing Process can help break up these moments so that you’re not carrying around unwanted energy.
